I have installed Sybase ASE 15.7 SP110 Developer Edition (DE) on a VM running RHEL 6.2 for x86_64. Now my company purchased a license for Enterprise Edition and my manager sent me a license file (*.lic). Now I'm wondering if I can apply this new license on my existing installation. If yes, could someone point me to the detailed steps to do that?

I am trying to install CRM system on SUSE Linux 11 sp2 with SYBASE DB.
At phase prepare operating system environment, I am getting error as 'Assertion failed: Resource setting 'max memory size' is incorrect; refer to the installation documentation to solve this.'
How to set Max memory size for sybase DB on Linux. I gone through many forums and i tried few suggestions, but those are not worked.
Please advice.

I have used command: Load database <DBSID> from <path>,
It is giving error as 'The database you are attempting to load was dumped under a different sort order id (25) or character set id (190) then the ones running on this server (sort order id = 99, character set id = 190)'. If the Sort order differ, atleast one of them is non-binary'
I am new to sybase DB. Please help me to restore the Database.

I created a server using the developer edition, now we have purchased an AC license type.
The license file has:

However, getting the following error.

I've written a web service that connects to and ASE and creates some data. It works fine when deployed to Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 but not on Windows Server 2012.
Here's the error...
System.Data.EntityException: The underlying provider failed on Open. ---> Sybase.Data.AseCleint.AseException: Could not load code page for requested charset.
After googling I found some folks setting the charset in the connection string. I tried that and it worked! My question is why do I have to do that for Windows Server 2012?
Environment is the following...
Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard
IIS 8.5
ASE PC Client 15.7.0.130000
EntityFramework 5.0

I am experiencing a problem while working with a client/server architecture model using Sybase SQL Anywhere 9 and
Sybase SQL Anywhere 11. I have got a client (Sybase central client) installed on one server and a Sybase database server installed on the second server and a database file placed on the third server. It's a 3 tier architecture and all the servers are on the network where as the client uses tcp/ip communication protocol and ODBC driver to talk to the server. I am trying to access the file from the client and I couldn't make it work as I am getting "database not found" error (sql error -83) because the database file is not located on where the database server is running. Can someone please advise whether this architecture works in any version of Sybase SQL Anywhere? Note: I do know file corruption may occur if database server and database file are located on different servers. But still I want to make this architecture works.
It would be much appreciated if anyone has implemented this architecture.
Any information would be much appreciated.

Hi,
I'm new to SYBASE. I've installed AES on RED Hat 6.0 and I can connect locally via ISQL.
Then I downloaded the SDK onto Windows 2012 Server, but cannot connect remotely.
SERVER: wrkredhat6.0x64
STATIC IP: 192.168.242.199
DATABASENAME: SYBASEDB
I run the following windows console command:
isql -Usa -Ppassword -SSYBASEDB -H192.168.242.199
But I get error: Requested server name not found.

We are migrating from 32 bit asp.net website to 64 bit asp.net website.
we have number of stored procedure calls calling Sybase.Data.AseClient.dll in "EXEC sp_test ? " format from our database layer.
with the new 64 bit DLL Sybase.ADONet4.ASEClient.dll the above SP call format is throwing an exception Incorrect syntax near '?'.
following is the stack trace

Hi All,
We are trying to upgrade Sybase database from 15.7 to 16.
Didn't find any good document or blog on this, and all links pointed to SAP note 1982469 / 2162735.
We went as per the instructions in the note 1982469, but are facing lot of issues.
When trying to upgrade with saphostctrl, it says that the minimum version should be 16(attached log).
And when trying with sapdbctrl, it creates a .bck file for ASE_Suite.log and ends with error saying unable to open file.
Although all access is provided for the file.
The OS is windows.
Has anyone done an upgrade using saphostctrl?
Request you to kindly guide us if any additional steps to be done..

We have simple dump and load based DR created, we take transaction log backup and it will get loaded on DR automatically through cron jobs, it works fine but it goes out of sync in below situation, please suggest on the same.
1. When minimally logged task done on database
2. If full bakcup done on database, DR will went asynchronous state.
3. If we try to load log backup manually in minimal logged case it will ask to load previous log backup, will get same issue every time when we apply previous log backup.
Applying full backup manually will bring DR in synchronized state, but every time applying full bakcup is not feasible, please suggest on the same.

we are runing ASE 15.7 SP 102, and I have the need to shirnk a large user database ,
I run alter database x off xx_pub_43=3278M
. and now the sp_helpdb db_name shows the device is empty , .
use db_name
sp_helpdb db_name shows:
xx_pub_dat43 -- unused by any segments
so I need to remove this device from this particular db usages complet, this device is been used by other db's .( do I need to delete entries from system table)
