WaitTime for process in status "waiting for internal system event:wait to acquire latch" can be more 20-30 seconds...

"feature" of DB: there are many tables with text columns (loading XML in database, length ~80kb), but page-size = 2kb...

I understand that it's very bad, but on this moment i can't change it. Second reason: tables are not partitioned...

For decreasing a latch-time i used greedy allocation for more usefull tables, but it was not more effectivity.

Time of sleep decreased, but i also see latch's.

After create partition (roundrobin, 10) for tables - big-sleep-time rollback.

May be there are another case for take effect for latch's?

Currently, we are having problems with our transaction log due to its size which quickly get full. Our transaction log size is only 1024 MB or 1 GB and we usually dump the transaction log just to free up the space. How do we increase the size of our transaction log?

I'm trying to connect to a remote backup server S2_BS running on VM2 from a data server S1 running on VM1. When I issued following command in isql

1> SYB_BACKUP...sp_who

2> go

Msg 7221, Level 14, State 2:

Server 'S1', Line 1:

Login to site 'SYB_BACKUP' failed.

It failed to connect to its SYB_BACKUP (i.e. S2_BS is configured for SYB_BACKUP in this case).

And I got following error in the error log of S2_BS:

Jun 23 14:48:53 2014: Backup Server: 2.24.2.1: The host '10.43.13.204' is not authorized to connect to this Backup Server.

Jun 23 14:48:53 2014: Backup Server: 2.6.2.10: Login information unavailable.

I can ping VM2 from VM1 without any issue:

$ ping 10.43.13.204

64 bytes from 10.43.13.204: icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=0.035 ms

And have entry for S2_BS in /opt/sybase/interfaces on VM1:

And S2_BS is running correctly on VM2.

I'm running ASE 15.7 SP110 on both VM1 and VM2.

Could someone please let me know how to fix this?

I did installation on Windows 2008 R2 SP1. It is 64 bit operating system. I have installed Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 x64 Redistributable package. But if I install it error will showed "Error: The installer failed to load sylapij.dll. Please verify you have the correct and complete installer image. Have anyone see the error before and know how to resolve the issue?

As mentioned in my previous pst, we recently migrated from ASE12 to 15.

After the migration we have started receiving the below error whenever a new charater is being sent to our system.

In ASE 12, there were no errors. the data would inserted with the question mark like "ABC??DEF"

In ASE 15 , this casues a data loss.

Hi expert,

In our landscape,we have single stack system and sybase database so please guide and give me good way to i can take backup and also scheduling the backup time interval.

We use Sybase's Adaptive Server Enterprise, I.e, Sybase's datasbase product.

We have new PC workstations with Windows 7 , as well as existing workstations being upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7

We have found that the existing 32-bit Sybase PC client does NOT install properly on Windows 7; the ODBC driver gets installed in the 64-bit folder (System32), not the 32-bit folder (SysWow64).

? Is a Windows 7 Sybase PC client available ?

Please advise.

I´ve been looking for a ASE ADO.Net driver for a while.

The closest I´ve found is the the ASEOLEDB driver, which "support" ADO.

I´ve heard some rumors that PowerBuilder could have some kind of ADO.NET driver.

Can someone sort this out for me.

And yes I know, I can use the ASEOLEDB  driver, but that´s not the question.

I am not a registered / licensed sybase/sap customer. I downloaded sap ASE 15.7 developer edition Linux 64 bit. But I have a 32 bit application that requires 32 bit open client. I am looking for a 32 bit open client version 15.7.

it seems SAP doesn't provide a 32 bit ASE 15.7 for linux. Only 64 bit is available. I just need a 32 bit 15.7 client.

Does Sybase ASE 16 support SHA-256 in the hash/hashbytes function? It appears that it supports it now for passwords but that does not do us any good - the hasha and hashbytes functions support md5, sha, sha1 and such but not sha-2 sha-256... at least not as far as I can tell.

We are migrating from  32 bit  asp.net website to 64 bit asp.net website. 

we have number of stored procedure calls  calling Sybase.Data.AseClient.dll in  "EXEC sp_test ?   " format from our database  layer.

with the new 64 bit DLL  Sybase.ADONet4.ASEClient.dll   the above SP call format is throwing an exception  Incorrect syntax near '?'.

following is the stack trace

I did installation on Windows 2008 R2 SP1. It is 64 bit operating system. I have installed Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 x64 Redistributable package. But if I install it error will showed "Error: The installer failed to load sylapij.dll. Please verify you have the correct and complete installer image. Have anyone see the error before and know how to resolve the issue?
