We just installed ASE developer edition for Linux. When trying to start isql I get the error:
isql
-bash: /opt/sybase/OCS-16_0/bin/isql: No such file or directory
But:
ll /opt/sybase/OCS-16_0/bin/isql
-rwxr-xr-x 1 wegc wegc 1694721 Feb 7 2014 /opt/sybase/OCS-16_0/bin/isql
Any ideas what went wrong?

We're planning to use auditing on our ASE 16.0 server and we have two questions.
1) Any reporting tools out there which access the information in the sybsecurity database and present the information in a meaningful manner? Do we have to write our own stored procedures to get data from the audit tables?
2) Is there a workaround in ASE Auditing that handles the Web Application scenario: a single user connects to the database from the web server but we would like to log/audit the actual user logged into the website. Can the web username information be somehow passed onto ASE Auditing?
Any pointers/suggestions appreciated. Thank you.

Is there a way to get notifications when Sybase backup in DB13 is failing ? I the past days we are getting more and more problems that the backups are not running due to error: scheduling failed. Perhaps there is a way to monitor that from OS level somehow ?

I did installation on Windows 2008 R2 SP1. It is 64 bit operating system. I have installed Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 x64 Redistributable package. But if I install it error will showed "Error: The installer failed to load sylapij.dll. Please verify you have the correct and complete installer image. Have anyone see the error before and know how to resolve the issue?

Is there any catalog table contention while running update[ index] statistics on multiple tables at the same time in replicated environment?
While I was trying to setup a shell script to do so one of our DBAs mentioned to me had some type of contention or blocking on catalog tables and avoid running so since then.
I have done this in the past many times and have never seen such issues. I have grouped the tables based on their rowcount and manage my parallel table count accordingly.
In the metadata I have these classifications. TABLE COUNT is a parameter to the shell script that I can control while running thru the scheduler.
SMALL = 0 & 500000 rows, TABLE COUNT = 8
MEDIUM = 500001 & 2000000 rows, TABLE COUNT = 4
LARGE = 2000001 & above, TABLE COUNT = 1
We have enough default & tempdb cachse with 32GB tempdb.
Is this a real issue in ASE 15.7 or ASE 16?
We are planing to upgrade our server from ASE 15.0.3 to ASE 16 SP01 next week after a long QA.
Has anybody seen this in the past with contention in catalog tables in replicated ASE server or in primary?

I'm using ODBC ASE driver 15.7.0.80 to connect to an ASE 15.7 ESD4.2 server. Running Cognos Framework Manager-generated SQL queries I'm hitting a limit of 50 user tables that can be used in a query. Error message is "[Sybase]{ODBC Driver][Adaptive Server Enterprise]Too many table names in query. The maximum allowable is 50."
When I run "dbcc serverlimits" on the server it shows "Max number of user tables in a single SQL statement: 512", so I'm wondering if its a configuration setting in the ODBC driver? I haven't been able to find out if it is, and where to do it - would appreciate if anyone knows.

I have a SAP System 7.4 running under LinuX Suse and Sybase ASE 16. My developers need to access Sybase using OBDC, these external database runs under Windows and it´s SQL Express. I think the way to go is using unixODBC, but I don´t know how to set it. unixODBC is already install, but I´m not sure if I need an additional library or how to set it.
Any clue?

Few of our tables in production server have few hundred million rows( between 200mil and 800mil). We add between 200,000 and 500,000 rows every week. Less than one percent of total rows each of them have. Most of these tables have chronologically increasing index columns like date or identity value. We run update stats on weekend for half a day. The weekend we run stats of large tables we are unable to run stats on other smaller tables .
Do I really need to run update stats every weekend on those large tables?
What is the best criteria I can use based on data changes so I can cover many other tables to refresh statistics?
